He came to Sulov in 1942, where he also married Marta Bohunova from Slatina nad Bebravou on the 19th of July in 1942. They had three children. He actively participated in the domestic anti-fascist resistance. Ondrej Pecka and Jozef Podhorany, who was a teacher and churchwarden, were detained by the German army during the raid on the village on the 29th of September in 1944. He was transferred to the Ilava prison on the 6th of October, after an investigation in Zilina. He was released from jail on the 27th of October in 1944. He helped many Jews families. Ondrej Pecka became involved in the political life of the village after the liberation of the village in the 30th of April in 1945. Later, he worked in the municipal council as an administrator of the Local National Committee. Older residents of the village like to remember his work with young people, for instance, when they burned Jan Hus’s fires at the Owl and the Owlet. The Pecka family farmed in the parish fields, breed a cow and produced dairy products from cow’s milk. Ondrej Pecka also devoted himself to beekeeping. The church and the rectory were repaired during his service. Marta Peckova led a valuable church chronicle, which maps not only the life and work of her husband, but also their entire family, as well as the church and social conditions in the village. Ondrej Pecka worked in Sulov until 1984. He died on the 21st of April in 1955 in Koseca. He is buried in his birthplace.
