Both villages developed independently with their own headmen through history. However, they had been united not only by a common district border, but also by a common lairds and ecclesiastical affiliation. There have been people of Evangelical and Catholic religion in Hradna. The official merge of the villages, into one unit called Sulov - Hradna, took place in 1898.
