Fauna of mountain streams

The black stork (Ciconia nigra) nests in deep forests. It prefers wetlands, where it can find sufficient food. The white-throated dipper (Cinclus cinclus) dives below the surface of the running water while hunting. The grey wagtail (Motacilla cinerea) is an adornment of torrents and streams. The Eurasian water shrew (Neomys fodiens) hunts insect larvae, mollusk, tadpoles. It is adapted perfectly for life in the water. It has swimming membranes on its toes on hind legs and on the underside of the tail. Its stunted ears are hidden in the fur.
Rosalia longicorn (Rosaria alpine) is a typical beetle from the original beeches. Its larvae evolve in the trunks of old beeches. Fire salamander (Salamandra salamandra) appears near forest wells in the time of reproduction.
